Rame Cuen (a. k. a. Ramón Jiménez Cuen, 1976, Ciudad de México) es un artista transdiscilpinario que explora el concepto del territorio-paisaje en sus dimensiones políticas y sociales, problematizando, en particular, el desplazamiento y la destrucción de identidad de las comunidades.

Sus obras muestran cómo la vida se extiende más allá de sus límites subjetivos activando narrativas en tensión entre una realidad del paisaje y una recuperada del pasado –en algunas ocasiones remoto y en otras cercano— desde la ficcionalidad del presente. Desafiando los binarios de identidad que continuamente reconstruimos entre el “Yo” y el “Otro”, entre "lo salvaje" y "lo civilizado".

Su obra es conceptual y relacional con una fuerte herencia visual, por esta razón, sus exploraciones en torno al paisaje operan en diversos niveles, como su dinámica, manipulación y los límites de sus efectos. A través de instalaciones y ambientes sonoros, Cuen construye una meta-ficción como forma de resistencia contra el postcolonialismo.

Business Design certificate at Parsons, 2016. In 2010 he graduated from the MA Program in Media and Film, New School. Two years later he become director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca. Years later collaborates with his family to develop the new structure of Museum Belber Jimenez, a museum of folk art with a peculiar approach to contemporary art working closely with artist in residence from Queens Museum including Allen Frame and Juan Betancurt among local artists like Trini Ellitsgard, La piztola and Sabino Guisu. 

His transdisciplinary background comes from management, media, music and photography. In 2000 he completed the certificate in PJ and a documentary program at the International Center Of Photography. Since then his work has been exhibited in personal and collective exhibits including the book presentation Eyes of the World at UN after he got the Alexia Student Grand Award. 

His work is part of national and international collections including London School of Economics, Graphic Art Institute of Oaxaca, Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca and Photographic Institute of Chicago. He has published two books, Carnales bajo el Puente and The last dance. His participation in the local music scene includes bands like Brida and Elinor among personal performances in collaboration with friends and local artists including scores for independent filmmaking.
